"Preview Could Not Be Rendered” in ccLeaf

If you see a “Preview Could Not Be Rendered” message in ccLeaf, it usually means one of two things:

1. A background export is still running

If you close or switch animations while an export is in progress, that render continues running in the background. ccLeaf won’t start a new preview or export until the current job finishes.

How to fix:

  • Wait about 5 minutes to let the export complete.

  • Try previewing again once the time has passed.

If the preview works after waiting, the issue was just an active background render.

2. A previous export got stuck

Sometimes a failed export or unexpected error can leave the renderer in a “stuck” state, which causes the “Preview Could Not Be Rendered” message to appear even when nothing obvious is running.

How to fix:

  1. Wait a couple of minutes in case the system clears itself.

  2. Refresh your browser and reopen the same animation.

  3. Try previewing again.

If you still see “Preview Could Not Be Rendered” after that, reach out to support with:

  • The name/ID of the animation

  • What you were doing right before the error

  • Your browser and device

That helps the team quickly see whether a render is stuck on your account and clear it.

3. Browser/session issue (most common)

Sometimes the render itself is fine, but your browser session gets stuck or desynced, causing previews to fail even though nothing is wrong on the server.

How to fix:

  • Log out of ccLeaf

  • Clear your browser cookies/cache for ccLeaf

  • Log back in and try again

If that doesn’t work:

  • Try a different browser

  • Try an incognito/private window

If previews work in another browser, the issue was most likely a stuck browser session or cached render state.

4. Invalid or corrupted uploaded media

A corrupted or unsupported image/video can sometimes cause the renderer to fail, resulting in “Preview Could Not Be Rendered”.

This most commonly happens when:

  • Files are moved directly out of ZIP folders incorrectly

  • Images become corrupted during downloads/transfers

  • Unsupported or broken media files are uploaded

How to fix:

  • Re-export or re-download the image/video

  • Make sure ZIP files are fully extracted before uploading media

  • Try uploading a different version of the file

  • Avoid unusually large or unsupported file formats

After replacing the media, try previewing again.
